Having evolved over thousands of years, Acupuncture is one of the oldest continually practiced medical modalities in the world. A treatment involves the insertion and manipulation of flexible, hair-thin needles at specific points along the body’s meridian pathways, which are channels through which the body’s energy flows. Acupuncture is a safe, effective, chemical-free way to promote the body’s remarkable self-healing abilities. It is used to prevent and treat disease, relieve pain, balance mood, enhance athletic performance, increase fertility, and improve overall health and wellness.

Traditional Thai bodywork draws upon indigenous Thai practices, Theraveda Buddhism, Ayurveda, Hatha Yoga and Chinese medicine, to clear the energy flow in the body and infuse the receiver with loving-kindness (metta). The bodywork is done on the floor, completely clothed. After clearing the energy (sen) lines with deep palm and thumb pressing, the joints are mobilized and the body is stretched. Combining acupressure and yoga-like poses, many say that it is like having yoga done to you! The most important function of Thai bodywork is to stimulate the body’s energy and natural healing process, which makes it a great complement to virtually any form of treatment.

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique performed by using a light touch or by holding hands above or near the body. Reiki helps to dissolve these blockages, freeing up stagnant energy so we are healthier, happier, more balanced and focused. Sessions reestablish calm and balance. Each session is tailored to the individual and their personal stress patterns. Reiki offers mental, emotional, spiritual, and/or physical healing. All sessions are unique, though most experience a profound sense of relaxation that lingers long after. Like any form of therapy or self-improvement work, Reiki is most effective with repetition. Weekly sessions are recommended for the first 4-6 weeks. With consistent sessions and a commitment to growth, Reiki can be the catalyst for your personal transformation.

Ayurveda is a traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of balance in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing. It’s based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health, not fight disease. But treatments may be geared toward specific health problems.
Rachel has been studying and living an Ayurveda-inspired lifestyle for the past 16 years. She suffered from chronic digestive issues since childhood and Ayurveda showed her how to heal herself and maintain her digestive health ever since. One of Rachel’s favorite aspects of her work is sharing how to apply this ancient wisdom to daily challenges we face in our modern lives. She is a Certified Ayurveda Practitioner as well as a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. Rachel teaches courses in person, online and practices acupuncture in Lansing, Michigan.
