200hr Teacher Training - Fall 2018
Citizen Yoga Teacher Training is not a lesson in “paint by numbers.” It is an experience that assists trainees in mastering brush strokes, which they then use to become an artist of their own practice and teaching.
YOGAMEDICS: BACK TO BASICS
A class coordinated through YogaMedics, a therapeutic yoga company Back to Basics focuses on alignment basics and back health. The class is designed for students of all levels with or without specific injuries. These classes will help open the hips, hamstrings, and strengthen core while opening all areas in the body that can cause back, neck, and shoulder pain.
Learn safe modifications for all stages of pregnancy while we help create space, strength, and a connection with your body for your growing baby. This class uses breath and guided visualization, a coping mechanism that helps reduce the severity of contractions during labor, to reduce stress and tension while stretching and strengthening in preparation for delivery. A perfect class to meet new friends & start forming your mom group!
R&R: RESTORE AND RELAX
With an artfully designed transition from gentle movements to holding poses; this class allows for students to cultivate a deep breath and body connection. Just as its name asserts, you will find restoration in the rooted postures and relaxation in breath and body. It is slightly more active than a traditional Yin Yoga class. Recommended for all experience levels.
Gentle Vinyasa that intentionally opens and challenges the sometimes sleepy and stiff morning body. We encourage students request a focus for class like hip openers, hamstring stretches, or twisting, for the instructor to incorporate into the primarily guided class. Recommended for students who have attended at least 1-5 yoga classes. However, all our teachers are very supportive and will help guide you through a wonderful experience on the mat. Prior to class, please inform the teacher if you are new to yoga so that they can best support you.
This class dispels the myth that slower is easier. For one hour, slow down your movement to delve deeper into the muscular system by holding poses for an extended period of time. This class is completely guided by the teacher. Should you find discomfort in your practice, you will find solace in the power of breath. This class is perfect for anyone looking to meet their edge. Recommended for all experience levels.
Combines the flow of Vinyasa with the guided challenge of Slow Burn. The pace of this class moves from some self-guided warm-ups into long-held postures that slow the body, focus the mind, and work toward a well-earned savasana. If you are familiar with Short-Form Ashtanga, this class offers a similar pace. Recommended for students who have attended at least 1-5 yoga classes. However, all our teachers are very supportive and will help guide you through a wonderful experience on the mat. Prior to class, please inform the teacher if you are new to yoga so that they can best support you.
The fastest paced class, Vinyasa links breath with movement. A variation of Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa classes sequence a variety of poses in a flowing movement that cultivates balance, flexibility, strength, and endurance. Though this is a flow-based class, Citizen still maintains the integrity of alignment by offering cues while students flow on their own. This ensures everyone’s flow remains optimal and evolutionary. Catered towards a somewhat experienced yogi, this class will challenge your breath and build physical endurance. Recommended for students who have attended at least 1-5 yoga classes. However, all our teachers are very supportive and will help guide you through a wonderful experience on the mat.
SHORT FORM ASHTANGA
Short form Ashtanga combines breath with a rhythmic and consistent pace. This class progresses through a set sequence of postures where each pose progresses to the next. The class is completely guided and provides an excellent opportunity to focus on breath and alignment through clear instruction. Recommended for students who have attended at least 1-5 yoga classes.
