OVERVIEW
Citizen Yoga’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is a Yoga Alliance-certified program designed around the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual principles of the yoga practice. Throughout the program, trainees will be guided on a journey of self-development as they realize their potential as teachers. Based on a manual developed by Citizen Yoga founder Kacee Must, we’ve evolved the 200-Hour program to be delivered fully virtually while still offering a highly engaging and transformative experience.
Citizen Yoga’s training team combines decades of yoga teaching and training experience to offer a comprehensive, foundational yoga education that prepares trainees to be able to teach multiple types of yoga classes upon graduation. Graduates from our program are eligible to register as a Registered Yoga Teacher-200 with the Yoga Alliance.

The flexibility of Citizen’s Online Teacher Training allowed me to commit to deepening my expertise of yoga in a way that worked for my schedule. The transformative nature of teacher training isn’t lost because of the online format. I can actually say I graduated Citizen’s program surrounded by a community of curious new teachers, and I felt completely prepared to teach multiple types of yoga classes in a safe, creative way.
—Anna Tretter
Teacher Training was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life! Kacee and her curriculum prepare you to become a teacher, and play the lead role in your life. The foundations that you learn through her training will help you become more grounded in both alignment and philosophy. Teacher Training was a powerful experience everyone should have to deepen their practice.
—Coby Shecter
Citizen Yoga’s 200-Hour Teacher Training encompasses all aspects of what yoga means. We learned so much more than proper pose alignment and how to create good messaging for a class. We explored the philosophical underpinnings that make yoga more than just a workout, enriching movement with meaning. It was truly a journey of personal transformation that anchors my teaching and my practice.
—Sarah Weinstein
It sounds cliché, but it’s absolutely true; the Citizen Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training was absolutely life changing for me. The training itself gives students an in-depth education on the power of a philosophy-based and alignment-focused practice. The teachers are well-trained, your peers become your greatest resources, and the manual your greatest treasure. I have never felt more connected to myself.
—Hailey Zureich
Citizen Yoga offers a Teacher Training that invites you to explore what drives you in life and the ways in which integrity, authenticity, and purpose can invigorate and guide your teaching style. You will learn the mechanics of yoga by exploring anatomy and pose sequencing that support alignment-based yoga. You will learn the overt differences between Slow Burn, Blend, and Vinyasa classes, as well as the nuances and subtleties that you can offer your students. Philosophy is woven into all aspects of the training; you will enjoy the metaphors between the practice of yoga and the world you live in — and, just as Citizen Yoga studios are community-oriented, your peers will influence your experience as you co-create with others to learn, grow, and teach.
— Kara Minnehan
Kacee, and everyone who teaches at Citizen, has the utmost respect for the practice. With the team’s expertise in alignment, and background in philosophy, the CY 200-Hour Teacher Training is truly unmatched. It’s the best way to deepen your practice in both mind and body. I am a different and better person because of it.
